The special prosecutors have found that the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha broke the house arrest security measure set by the court after he allowed other people in his apartment in violation of the court order.
In Tuesday’s session the prosecutors opposed the request of Berisha’s lawyers to change the security measure since the former prime minister and his son-in-law Jambarër Malltezi continue to violate the security measure.
According to SPAK, Berisha, who is being kept isolated in the apartment, has the same rules as any citizen who is kept isolated in the detention cells, and for this reason, he is not allowed to communicate or meet people other than the close family circle who live in the same apartment with him.
SPAK prosecutors submitted to the court the materials published in the media about Berisha’s meetings with Rai’s journalist and former German MEP, Elmar Brok, underlining that Berisha continues to disobey the decision of the security measure.
However, SPAK did not request a tougher measure for Berisha, but only refused to release him from house arrest. in the end, the court left without changing the measure for Berisha and Malltez who are accused of corruption and money laundering in connection with the privatization of the former Partizani complex./abcnews.al
