Prime Minister Edi Rama has published on social networks some pictures from the NATO air base in Kuçova, which is expected to open soon. The head of government says that the base will play a key role in supporting NATO operations while adding that it will serve as a center for air activities.
“Good morning from the soon-to-be-opened NATO Tactical Air Base in Kuçova, which will play a key role in supporting NATO operations and exercises, serving also as a hub for Air Force activities, with advanced infrastructure for the combat and transport aircraft of the Alliance, I wish you a good day”, writes Rama.
The commander of the Air Force, Ferdinand Dimo, says that the air base, which is expected to open on March 4, will have an extraordinary development impact in the entire area of Berat district.
“Approximately 15 million euros have been invested by NATO and more than 5 million have been invested by the Albanian government. We are at the end of all the works for the air force troops to train at this base, but not only that.
NATO troops and aircraft will be accommodated, trained and flown from Kuçova air base. The construction of the air base in Kuçova has an extraordinary development impact in the community and in the whole area of Berat district”, he said.
