President Ilir Meta has commented on Eurostat data regarding the pandemic in the country. Meta writes, among other things, that Albania is the first in Europe for the number of victims by COVID-19, with an increase estimated at + 111% for the months of November-December.
President of the Republic, also Ilir Meta has called on the government to stop budget payments for PPPs in order to cope with the pandemic situation.
According to the President, the government should stop empty propaganda and draw up a concrete plan.
“In relation to the population, Albania has occupied the first place in Europe for the number of lives lost by COVID-19, with an increase estimated at + 111% for the months of November-December.
This shocking fact clearly proves that the plan of measures to deal with the pandemic has failed in the main priority: the protection of as many human lives as possible.
In conditions when the number of those affected is increasing every day at extremely high alarming rates, I repeat the call to the Government to urgently stop the empty propaganda and to draft a concrete long-term plan for the effective management of the situation, which is getting out of control, starting with the tangible improvement of conditions in hospitals, to the publication of a strategy for vaccination of the population, which can not be left to the mercy of fate.
