Today meeting of the political Council, part of which is also P.M Rama

The Political Council will convene today at 11:00 to discuss the constitutional changes that were superimposed on  5 th June agreement.

For the first time, Prime Minister Edi Rama will be present, who will defend before the members of the Council, the proposal of openlist and the abolition of pre-election coalitions.

While in place of Lulzim Basha, who is in  a oficial visit to Kosovo will be the number two of the Democrats, the General Secretary, Gazment Bardhi.

Abc News has highlighted some points for the Political Council meeting:

1.The Political Council is reconvening after the SP request to discuss issues arising from the June 5 Agreement.

2.The main issue that comes out of the Agreement is that of the constitutional changes, accepted by the SP after 5 th June agreement. Constitutional changes remove pre-election coalitions from the constitution and ban parties from running in coalitions with separate lists.

3.The DP and the opposition have argued that unilateral constitutional changes undermine 5 th June agreement, as pre-election coalitions are part of a draft agreed to international mediation.

4.The DP and the opposition has stated that the draft agreed under 5 th June Agreement must be approved without any changes. This means that the issues agreed there can not be reopened.

The US and the EU have demanded the unapproved approval of the Agreement.  Key countries, such as Germany, have warned the government that the unilateral adoption of constitutional changes, without consensus, in violation of 5 th June Agreement, will lead to the disruption of the start of negotiations./abcnews.al
