The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, held a press statement with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, before the start of the summit for Ukraine that will be held in Tirana.
Hasani emphasized that Albania supports territorial integrity while adding that work is underway to open the Albanian embassy in Kiev within the year.
Hasani added that he supports the 10-point plan presented by President Zelensky for peace in Ukraine. He also praised Ukraine’s advancement on the European path.
“Albania supports the sovereignty, freedom, independence, territorial integrity of Ukraine. Albania strongly condemns the Russian aggression against Ukraine and will continue its efforts to hold Russia responsible for the crimes committed in Ukraine.
Albania supports President Zelenski’s 10-Point Plan as the most realistic option for ending the war and achieving a lasting peace.
Together with other actors and countries, we have already taken the commitment for cooperation in the realization of Point 5, which is about “Restoring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine”, as one of the most immediate objectives of ending the war.
We discussed ways to increase economic cooperation, as these relations should rise to the level of the excellent political relations we have. There are opportunities for trade exchanges, even under such extraordinary conditions, to take on a new and growing dimension;
We are happy for the advancement of Ukraine on its pro-European path and we hope that the European Council’s decision to open membership negotiations paves the way for their launch as soon as possible. We are ready to offer our experience so far in this process./abcnews.al
