Rama to NATO: To co-finance the naval base in Porto Romano

Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered his speech during the joint press conference in Skopje, with the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, the President of Croatia, the Prime Minister of Montenegro and the Prime Minister of Slovenia.

Rama said that Albania’s request for co-financing with NATO, for the new naval base in Porto Romano, should be implemented as soon as possible. According to the head of the government, NATO will provide quick access to this part of Europe.

“On the other hand, I would also like to emphasize the request that Albania’s application to co-finance with NATO the new NATO naval base in Porto Romano be processed as soon as possible because we strongly believe that everything that happens step by step, reinforces the strategic value of such an investment, not simply for Albania, nor simply for our entire region, but also for NATO itself, which will gain another quick access to this side of Europe, just in case and for the strategic purposes of common defense”, said Rama.
