European Union Ambassador in Tirana, Luigi Soreca and Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku introduced this Thursday the European Commission Report for Albania 2023.
During his speech, Soreca stated that this package of the European Commission Report is based on two very important political developments, such as the expansion of the EU’s political agenda and economic convergence.
Meanwhile, Soreca quoted the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who said that we must respond to the call for enlargement and work to accelerate the enlargement of the EU and complete the union.
“Thank you for accepting today the report that the European Commission presented yesterday. This package takes place in a special context that is based on two very important political developments. First, enlargement is back on the EU’s political agenda and in a rapidly changing non-political environment, for which the EU has been working hard with the most important partners, including especially Albania.
There is now renewed consensus that credible, merit-based expansion is the key driver for transformation, enhancing our collective security and socio-economic well-being.
As Von Der Leyen said yesterday when he presented the enlargement package, that we must answer the call for enlargement and work to accelerate the enlargement of the EU and complete the union. The second main driver is economic convergence, an essential element that Albania and other countries have”, said Soreca, among other things.
