The appeal of GJKKO (Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime) rejected the request of the former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj for the appeal made for the seized property.

Arben Ahmetaj’s lawyers appealed a few months ago in the GJKKO Appeal against SPAK’s (Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime) decision to seize two bank accounts and 4 apartments in his name.

Let us remind you that SPAK has imposed property security measures, preventive seizure on 6 (six) assets, of which 4 (four) apartments (one adapted as AIR BNB) owned by the person under investigation Arben Ahmetaj as well as 2 (two) bank accounts of this same citizen in the amount of 124,300 (one hundred and twenty four thousand and three hundred Euros).

“The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a monocratic panel composed of judge Dhimiter Lara, today on 28.10.2023, announced the decision on criminal case no. 158 act, date 18.10.2023 registration, registered on the appeal presented by the appellant A.A., against the decision no. 364, dated 26.09.2023 (related to the sequestration of property) of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, and decided:

– Approval of decision no. 364 act dated 26.09.2023 of the Special Court of the First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime”, it is stated in the announcement of the Court.

The former Deputy Prime Minister, Arben Ahmetaj, is accused of 4 criminal offences, that of “abuse of office”, “passive corruption of high state officials”, “cleaning the proceeds of a criminal offence” and “illegal profiting of interests”. .

Ahmetaj has been on the run for several months. He left the country the day SPAK asked the Parliament to remove his immunity, to pave the way for his handcuffing.
