Elbasan Police has uninstalled and seized this Wednesday 37 security cameras installed by criminal groups, while the investigations have started for 10 people who installed these cameras in violation of the law.
Seized cameras were placed without the relevant permission of the competent bodies, as their placement is in violation of Law 9887, dated 10.03.2008 “On the protection of personal data” and constitutes the criminal offense “Unjust interference in private life”, which provided by Article 121 of the Criminal Code.
Meanwhile, the authorities are working to identify the citizens who installed these cameras, as well as to fully clarify the purpose of their installation.
“Investigative structures of DVP Elbasan, in cooperation with the police stations subordinate to it, in implementation of the tasks defined within the nationwide operational plan coded “Fijet”, initiated by the General Directorate of the State Police, as well as supported from the information intelligence, for the unauthorized placement of some cameras in the cities of Elbasan, Gramsci and Peqin, in order to provide information, for criminal purposes, as well as to monitor the movements of the Police, have organized the work to identify and dismantle these cameras, identification of the owners of these cameras, as well as for full legal documentation of the purpose of use.
-During the tenth national phase of this operational plan, in Elbasan, in the neighborhoods “5 Maji”, “Sul Paprri”, “Syrja Dylgjeri” and “Liberation”, 28 cameras were dismantled and in-depth investigations were initiated, in cooperation with Prosecution of Elbasan, for 5 citizens, specifically for: D. Rr., I. B., H. B., K. Xh. and A.I.
– The operational plan continued in Gramsh, where 4 cameras were dismantled and seized in violation of the law, and investigations were initiated for the citizens: R. D., S. Xh. and A. Ç., as well as in the city of Peqin, where 5 cameras were dismantled and investigations were initiated for citizens H. Z. and E. Xh”, the police announcement stated.
