The Institute of Public Health has confirmed the presence of variants BA1 of Omicron and BA2 in our country. The announcement of the IPH came after receiving the answer of the analysis from the reference laboratory in Germany.
It is learned that out of a total of 556 samples, it turned out that the BA1 variant of Omicron rules, but we also have the presence of BA2 in circulation. Also at a very low percentage and turnover of the delta variant.
According to the data, the presence is as follows:
86% (476) are BA1 samples
8.3% (46) are BA2 samples
3% (18) are Delta samples
The distribution of BA2 cases is reported to be higher in the community compared to hospital cases. As has happened in other countries it is likely that this variant will switch to a dominant variant versus other variants due to its high transmissibility.
“The Institute of Public Health appeals to all citizens to be vaccinated against COVID-19 at health centers or concentrated vaccination points. ”Vaccination with all three doses of anti-COVID vaccine is important for the protection of health”, announces IPH.
It is estimated that BA2 is a variant that is transmitted faster compared to others and experts expect an increase in the number of those affected in the coming days and weeks until it becomes the dominant variant in the country.
Experts estimate that this variant has the same force as the others before, however citizens should be vaccinated to prevent any unforeseen consequences according to IPH.
