Kudret Salija was killed today with five bullets by his ex-father-in-law after he was in the process of divorce with his daughter, Dhurata Saliaj.
The victim had been separated for more than a year, while his wife was accused of domestic violence. Dhurata was even arrested after her husband’s reports. There have been charges and counter-charges between the parties for years. Gift has not been charged with violence, discord or adultery.
After the arrest, the perpetrator Mexhit Picari told the police forces that he committed the murder to protect the honor of the woman.

Dhurata Saliaj: That was a big surprise for my father as well.
But he claims to have argued with you and begged you to come home for the sake of the children and you have said I will never go back with you. You even argued with your son about the part of lovers he claims you had.
Dhurata Saliaj: This is not true. My husband did not give me a single explanation. I tried to get him back on the phone and said: We have been married for 17 years, how you can not give me an explanation for what he is leaving me. /abcnews.al
