The meeting between Prime Minister Edi Rama and Greek counterpart  Kyriakos Mitsotakis held last night in Athens has been focused on bilateral relations and Albania’s European perspective.

The press office of the Greek Prime Minister has revealed details from the meeting.

According to the press office, they discussed the cooperation of the two countries within NATO, and the Greek minorities in Albania, which are described by the parties as a bridge of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The prime ministers spoke about the integration of Albanian citizens in Greece, also on strengthening economic and trade relations. They have agreed to work together so that the two countries can resolve the outstanding issues as soon as possible.

But an unresolved issue between the parties is also the issue of the sea that is not mentioned in the announcement of the Greek press office. This topic has sparked discussions in Albanian politics as the opposition accuses Rama of making secret agreements with the Greek side on the marintime. Mitsotakis stated that would be discussed also the exclusive economic zones in the meeting with Edi Rama.

But there is likely to be another meeting between the parties to discuss this issue. Rama said publicly a few days ago that there will be an agreement with the Greeks for the sea, but promised that he will receive more than in 2009./abcnews.al
