The Criminal Court of Tirana will evaluate this Thursday the security measures for the doctors and Oncology specialists, who allegedly directed patients with tumor diseases to private clinics.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, these persons, in cooperation with each other, have “abused their duty”. According to the file, specialists and the hospital administrator referred patients diagnosed with tumor diseases to private clinics for profit purposes, not offering them services at the Oncology hospital at QSUNT.
In the file it is noted that after the patients received the complete program for the cure of tumors and the medications were provided by the state, the doctors intervened by programming that a part of the cure was bought outside the hospital and specifically at two private pharmacies.
One of the chemo drugs that had to be bought at the pharmacy costs from 250 Euros to 1500 Euros a bottle. In other communications, it is understood that within the hospital pharmacy, anyone who is a relative of a chemotherapy patient or internal employee can go and against a monetary amount can withdraw medication and why it is not his turn for treatment but on the waiting list it’s another person.
Doctor Edmond Gashi, using the long queue in Oncology as an argument, directs patients to his private clinic, telling them that the situation is urgent and there is no time to lose.
As he arrived at the court to be introduced to the “house arrest” security measure, Gashi told reporters that “I only do my job, sir”.
