The Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu said today that we have an increase in the incidence of tumors by 16%, but stressed that the number of patients who have received services in hospitals has increased to 70%. The Minister presented the national cancer control program for the next 10 years.
“We have a decrease of 16% in tumor incidence and on the other hand we have an increase of 70% of patients who have received treatment.
The system today is much better equipped. It is much more accessible. And our system today we have the opportunity to do an effective treatment according to the protocols of tumors in the world. I do not want you to think that we are not aware that we still have a lot to do.
But if these years we have increased by 150% the budget for treatment, we have improved radiotherapy and we have enabled to have a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment that still has a long way to go in relation to treatment, in relation to personalized treatment, elements that are included in our 10 year program.
“I believe that in 10 years we will have an improvement in the treatment of tumors, in order to reduce mortality,” she said.
