Prime Minister Edi Rama this Tuesday is expected to hold a meeting with his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
According to the Greek media the two prime ministers will have dinner together around 21:00, where they are expected to discuss the Greece’s 12-mile expansion in the Ionian Sea.
The issue is particularly complicated, according that in 2009, under the government of Costas Karamanlis, there was a demarcation agreement with Albania, which was later annulled by the country’s Constitutional Court.
Prime Minister Rama was among the persons who had taken legal action against the agreement signed with Greece by the Albanian side at the time, where he had stressed out that the Constitutional Court of Albania had adopted positions similar to the Turkish ones on the Aegean.
Also according to the media the meeting will focus on the region’s challenges for the development and strengthening of trade and investment, as well as European integration.
Before arriving in Athens yesterday, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The news was announced by the head of the government Rama, who posted a photo on social networks where he appears drinking tea with the President of Turkey. In this meeting was discussed about the bilateral relations between the two countries, economic cooperation in the treatment of coronavirus and the situation in the Western Balkans. s.ba/abcnews.al
