“On April 1, 2009, after the ratification of the Accession Protocol by all member states, Albania officially became a member of the Alliance. On April 7, 2009, at the Alliance headquarters in Brussels, the official ceremony of raising our national flag in NATO took place.

During these years, Albania has made its proportionate and substantial contribution, as a worthy member of NATO, in the Alliance’s operations for maintaining peace and security in various regions: in the NATO-led KFOR mission in Kosovo; at ISAF and the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan; in naval missions in the Aegean; in the NATO Advanced Reinforced Presence in Latvia etc.

Also, our Armed Forces have been and are engaged in peacekeeping and combat missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, South Sudan, in the UN military operation UNMISS, etc.
