SPAK prosecutors have requested the Assembly to extend their mandate. In their request, prosecutors state that the necessity to fight crime cannot be limited in time. According to them, nine years is not enough while they add that all other prosecutors do not have a limited mandate.
In the request addressed to the legislators, the prosecutors state that from the evaluation of the problems during the two-year period, they consider that it is necessary to make some legal changes in order to increase the work of the SPAK.
According to them, the limitation of the mandate is wrong because the world experience has shown that corruption and organized crime can not be eradicated and “the creation of specialized structures like SPAK is a guarantee to succeed in the fight against them.
Prosecutors also cite as an argument the investments that need to be made from the beginning whenever the 9-year term ends and the fact that, according to them, in the last year officials start and think to find a favorable employment solution and this “is accompanied by a decline of intensity and effectiveness in the work they do. ”
SPAK prosecutors also express their readiness to, if necessary, give their contribution to the working groups to resolve “these legal issues.” /abcnews.al
