According to Prime Minister Edi Rama, I have explained the law against defamation at a time when journalists outside the Parliament are protesting.

“Before I get into the aspects of the laws . Let me give you a little bit of the international concept to be clear about what we are talking about and where the world is today.

That everyone will understand, when we are faced with a crowd that does not read, and does not deserve to read, that they openly say we do not want the law.

According to an OSCE report in ¾ in 42 states out of 57 insult and defamation is a criminal offense.

There are currently three approaches to insult and defamation. First, 20 states consider insulting as a criminal offense punishable with prison.

Secondly, 5 states do not consider defamation a criminal offense, but regulate it with their consequences.

England results in the highest fine going to £ 200,000. The three states consider it a criminal offense and a fine not to imprisonment.

The toughest legislation against insult and defamation is that of Germany. The Criminal Code of Germany provides  11 offenses for insult and defamation, ” said Rama./abcnews.al
