Next hearing regarding the measure of arrest against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha is expected to be held this Saturday, at 12:00.
In Thursday’s session, judge Irena Gjoka argued that the postponement of the decision was made to give time to the lawyers to familiarize themselves with the evidence.
On their part, the lawyers asked to be acquainted with the audio recordings and the minutes of the last hearings at GJKKO, to prove the claims of bias.
However, until 16:00 on Friday, no request of the lawyers for the judge’s dismissal was submitted to the court secretariat.
“Following the interest shown by the journalists, we inform you that until 16:00, the written request of the lawyers of the citizen Sali Berisha for the dismissal of the judge Irena Gjoka has not been submitted to the secretary of the court! Thanking you for your cooperation”, GJKKO announced the day before.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if the lawyers will take any further action to delay the imposition of house arrest for former Prime Minister Berisha.
Special Court (SPAK) demands that Berisha be guarded by a policeman at the door of the house and no communication with other people except family members in the apartment.
