The meeting of the Democratic Party parliamentary group has been canceled. It is expected that at 16:00 Enkelejd Alibeaj will have a communication with the media in the Presidency of the Assembly.
The meeting was canceled after the change of the SP position on the process of electing the new head of state. While only 48 hours have passed since the agreement was reached, negotiations for the president between the majority and the opposition seem to be heading towards failure.
The DP has already drafted a list of presidential candidates to present to the majority. Democrats blame the fact of electing a consensual president. But it seems that the SP has another approach to how the process should proceed.
The Socialist parliamentary group released a statement today recalling that the agreement between the parties is for the opposition to bring a name to the second and third rounds, which should come with 20 signatures. The Socialist Party clarified that if the president is not elected in these two rounds, in the fourth they will propose.
