General Staff of the Armed Forces of Albania, Arben Kingji, at the inauguration of the NATO air base in Kucova, said that this base is necessary more than ever to respond to threats coming from the east.
“The inauguration of the Kucova base is a significant event for the AF and for the Alliance members themselves.
Today, an added value is offered to our defense infrastructure. In an era of complex challenges, the need for a defense infrastructure has become more imperative than ever, and this base will respond to threats coming from the eastern borders of the alliance.
Also, the Kucova airbase, the only one of its kind, will support airspace patrolling operations in alliance countries. The New Port of Porto Romano will significantly increase our maritime capacities. It will provide the necessary spaces for the reception of the countries of the alliance. At the same time, AF have entered into a modernization process. We will increase our presence in Romania, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he said.
