The use of new drugs, mainly by young people, has worried state structures. The Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla says that in addition to cannabis, a nitrous oxide balloon is a new substance, which is turning into a trend of use by young people in Albania.
He says that this criminal activity should be eradicated and the persons involved should be punished to the maximum extent.
The minister emphasizes that a person who distributed such a substance has been stopped by the police, while he says that there will be cooperation with the prosecutor’s office for consultations with experts, who will also classify the dangers that this substance brings to the youth.
“As I said yesterday in the Parliament of Albania, apart from cannabis and other narcotics, nitrous oxide is the new substance that is becoming a trend for young people in Albania.
Today, the State Police has detained persons involved in the illegal introduction of this substance into Albania (not for medical purposes). We will cooperate with the Prosecutor’s Office for the consultation of expert doctors in the field for the classification of the risks that this subject brings to the health of young people,” writes Minister Balla.
