Prime Minister Edi Rama hosts today in Tirana the President of the Council of Europe, Charles Michel. In a joint press conference by the Prime Minister, Michel said that much has changed since his last visit to Tirana, but only one thing remains unchanged: “commitment to the country’s EU integration.”
The CoE president also said that we should give new energy to the integration process and that the process is being accelerated. The senior European official also stressed that our country has met the conditions for the opening of negotiations for membership in the union.
“A lot has changed since my last visit here in Albania. But one thing has not changed and this is our commitment to Albania’s integration into the EU. A true ally country. Thank you very much for the support and work you have done in the international arena and especially this year.
We need to give new energy to the integration process. We are accelerating integration. Albania has met all the conditions for the opening of membership negotiations and talks should start as soon as possible. ”
The coming weeks, added Charles Michel, will be key in terms of Albania’s integration into the European family, while adding that he hopes that the right decisions will be made.
