The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta hosts today in a meeting the new UN Resident Coordinator in Albania, Mrs. Fiona McCluney, on the occasion of the beginning of her mandate in Albania.
Meta during the meeting has pointed the importance of accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 for Albania, which are also in line with their strategic objective for EU integration.
He also expressed gratitude for the role of UN Agencies in Albania in promoting human rights, as well as providing support to Albanian institutions in implementing the recommendations of international human rights organizations. The president also praised the intention to increase investment in social protection.
Ilir Meta, also referred to the fact that since this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the UN, which also coincides with the 65th anniversary of Albania’s accession to the UN, he suggested working together on a calendar of activities, not just for commemorating these important events, but also to make a balance of Albania’s excellent cooperation with the UN./abcnews.al
