Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni thanked Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Albanians for the support given to the establishment of the reception center for immigrants in Lezha.
In a press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, after inspecting the works at the reception center, the head of the Italian government said that she hopes that such an agreement will be followed by the EU.
Meloni did not leave without mentioning the continuous attacks on the Albanian government.
“I am happy that I am here, that I had the opportunity to meet you, that Rama had the opportunity to closely verify the situation of the works that are being carried out within the framework of the agreement.
I wanted to say, as we heard from Rama’s words, that our countries are two friendly countries, they are countries that have historically cooperated together, and I wanted to thank Rama and the Albanians once again for the opportunity and help they gave us to realize this agreement. I hope it will be an example for the whole EU.
I repeat once again all the closeness of the Italian government and the people for the attacks on Rama and his government, and in fact the Albanian government has done nothing but help the Italian government. We have followed a denigrating campaign against the Albanian government and we have heard labels as if it is a narco-state.
It is not the first time that Rama and Albania, as Rama mentioned, offer cooperation to Italy because even before, the history of Albania has shown that it has really had a sincere desire to be part of the EU and to choose opportunities for cooperation and he has never lacked Italy’s support for this,” said Meloni./abcnews.al
