Jorgo Goro has resigned from the post of mayor of Himara. ABC Nea has obtained the letter addressed to the municipal council of Himara, dated March 25, Goro expresses gratitude for the 12 years he served the citizens while denying the accusations of abuse of office and falsification of documents.
“Therefore, thanking from the bottom of my heart all from Himara (whether they voted for me or not, this gratitude is not shared by them), for all the great honor they have given me in these years, I resign from office with my head held high and my heart full with humble gratitude.
Of course, I wanted my departure to be different and not with a letter from a detention cell, but this is life, we can’t choose the bad guys who find us!”, Goro says, among other things.
A day ago, the court upheld the security measure of “jail arrest” for Goro. According to SPAK, Goro, in the capacity of the mayor in cooperation with the Director of the Department of Protection and Land Management, Himarë Municipality, without making any concrete verification according to legal obligations, forwarded to the competent bodies completely forged documents, making it possible registration of an area of 5512 m2 of agricultural land owned by the state, in favor of the private entity.
Also, Goro is accused of carrying out with concrete actions the actual displacement on the ground of an area of agricultural land of 5080 m2, superimposing it on another property owned by the state.
