Former Chairman of the CEC, Kristaq Kume in his speech at the meeting with President Ilir Meta on the progress of the preparatory process for the general elections for the Albanian Parliament, said that it will be an important test for democracy.
Kume, among other things, said that in this election process he expects that part of the election standards will no longer appear as a result of the legal change and our joint commitment.
“This process will be a very important test for democracy, so we must all work to protect democracy in our country. I expect that a good part of the phenomena that attacked the election standards will not appear, as a result of the legal change that has taken place and our joint commitment.
Regarding the problems that the pandemic will cause, it should be taken very seriously, in terms of taking measures to guarantee the highest possible voter participation in the process.
I see the possibility of an abuse of immigrants’ vote.
“It is important that we all work together to guarantee an electoral process with standards, to protect every vote and to stop any attempt to touch it from today,” Kume said./abcnews.al
