More than 40 leaders from across Europe are expected in Prague today to participate in the inaugural meeting of the European Political Community.

From Prague, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke before the European Political Community Meeting.

“It’s not a new idea, it’s an old idea. The meeting will continue and I hope we build something for our people. This idea was reborn after there was a crisis, I hope there won’t be another crisis to have another meeting,” said Rama.

The head of the government told the media present there that it is necessary for the European states to be together.

The purpose of the new forum is to improve cooperation between European countries beyond the borders of the European Union, such as Great Britain, Turkey, the countries of the Western Balkans and the Caucasus region. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal will attend in person, while President Volodymyr Zelensky will join by video.

In addition to economic problems, the leaders will hold talks on climate change, the energy crisis and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The discussions will be followed by bilateral meetings.
