An Albanian woman, Lubjana Gjecaj, declared wanted in Italy for attempting to recruit people to join ISIS, was sentenced to prison by the Criminal Court of Tirana.
As journalist Xhensila Kodra reports for ABC News, after being declared internationally wanted by the Italian authorities, the blue uniform in the capital handcuffed Lubjana Gjecaj in Albania.
It is reported Gjecaj had arranged marriages between couples in both Albania and Italy, and then sent them to Syria to join ISIS. It is believed she was part of a terror cell discovered in 2014 in Italy after the marriage of an Italian girl with an Albanian man.
Gjecaj admitted in court that she was aware of the sentence in Italy with 3 years of imprisonment, while she is expected to request that her file in the Italian state be transferred to Albania, because she is a mother of three children. s.ba/abcnews.al
