New details have been learned for the arrest of Dritan Rexhepi, described as the head of the drug cartel. ABC News reporter Ervin Leka reports that Rexhepi entered Turkey from Istanbul airport with a Colombian passport, registered under the name Benjamin Omar Perez Garcia.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkey, Ali Yerlikaya, has given details about the arrest in Istanbul of the head of the drug cartel, Dritan Rexhepi, as part of the police operation coded “Cartel”.
Yerlikaya stated that Rexhepi’s location was determined as a result of the joint work carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Crime Branch in Istanbul, the Intelligence Branch, the Anti-Smuggling and Immigrant Border Crossing Branch and the exchange of information with the Italian Police.
Among other things, Yerlikaya added that Rexhepi was declared internationally wanted, with the aim of extradition.
