In a statement to the media on the afternoon of October 3, Prime Minister Edi Rama addressed the citizens, informing them that “an extraordinary energy crisis” is coming to Albania. The head of government explained that this crisis is a new natural disaster “combined with geopolitical factors and trade maneuvers.” Rama said that the government will take care of those who are most vulnerable from this crisis, but did not give details on how the government plans to do so.
However, experts in the field in a conversation with Juli Xhokaxhi on “ABC Live” said that Albania with the resources it has should not be in the same conditions as those of countries that depend on electricity imports.
According to them, we are dealing with a mismanagement of the situation and we will already see the consequences. Fatos Çoçoli, an economics expert, while showing that the price for the purchase of electricity has reached record figures since now, said that currently the consumer does not feel the crisis, but it is felt in the state budget and this forced Rama to make a statement for media on weekends.
The worst case scenario, according to him, is that we do not have the energy available to buy it in December and that the restrictions start. On the other hand, Gjergj Buxhuku sees two possibilities for facing this crisis.
“The prime minister warned of a high cost that can only be afforded in two ways: price increases or public debt increases, or a combination of both. We need to provide emergency solutions, but we need to see why we got to this point. It did not belong to Albania to be in this situation. ”
Experts fear that if the final price is affected, it will have a domino effect on the economy. According to Vjoldi Danaj, the role of the state is to take care of the citizens and according to him, it is very urgent to create an emergency fund that will help families in need. /abcnews.al
