SPAK has revealed details regarding the arrest of 10 people today as it is suspected that they had set up a scheme to reduce sentences or release from prison convicted of serious criminal offenses.

Among those arrested are Judge Enkeleda Hoxha, lawyer Aldo Tabaku and the secretary of the Kruja Court, Manuela Mallakuçi. SPAK has also requested an arrest warrant for Saimir Petani, who is extradited from Italy with a sentence of 25 years in prison for murder.

In addition,  SPAK arrested Shkelqim Korbin, a psychiatric-legal expert at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, as well as some relatives of convicts in prisons. All of them are suspected of collaborating to reduce the sentences or release the convicts from prison. The aim this time was to reduce the sentence for Saimir Petani.

The scheme

The scheme was put into operation by the judge, lawyer and court secretary.

Initially, according to SPAK, the convicts chose lawyer Aldo Tabaku, who had close contacts with Judge Enkeleda Hoxha.

On the other hand, the court secretary made it possible for the case to be considered by Judge Enkeleda Hoxha, who made a decision in favor of the applicants. According to the SPAK, prisoners or their families paid between 6,000 and 12,000 euros to benefit from these reductions with the ultimate goal of getting out of prison.

Regarding the doctor Shkëlqim Korbi, SPAK states that he has prepared an expert report for a convict with a compulsory hospital doctor. The act of expertise has been to the detriment of the convict, but suddenly the doctor goes to the secretary of the court and replaces the act with another, this time in his favor./abcnews.al
