On the eve of the start of the new school year, the Chairman of Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha demanded that every teacher be tested for covid-19 from the first day of school.
Basha recommends also periodic testing to avoid the infectious chain. According to him, disinfection and shift classes are not enough, but urgent measures are needed to protect children and pedagogical staff.
“It is not enough just to disinfect and shift classes, urgent measures are needed to protect children and teaching staff. The start of the new school year is a day welcomed by thousands of students, parents and pedagogical staff across the country.
This year starts in difficult conditions for teachers, students and their families. In recent weeks the number of those affected by Covid-19 continues to be high while it remains the primary task of the government to take concrete measures to avoid the spread of the virus among students and teachers.
In addition to disinfecting school facilities, teaching in shifts to avoid classrooms with many students, there should be an urgent need for mass testing for all teaching staff. Every teacher on the first day of school should have the result of the Covid-19 test.
