At the extraordinary government meeting Prime Minister Edi Rama has made a preliminary estimate of the damages.
At today’s meeting of the government, Rama stated that 360 persons were placed in school gyms.
In his speech, the prime minister said he would make sure that all those affected would not left homeless.
Rama also listed the balance of damages caused by the earthquake.
“625 people are staying in hotels. Another 250 are accommodated in Berat. About 3500 people are homeless in the district of Tirana.
A temporary balance of damages in Durres.
In Durres we have 701 damaged houses, 12 destroyed, 176 damaged buildings. In Tirana, 15 destroyed, 239 damaged, 8 apartment buildings are out of use, and 61 heavily damaged palaces.
This balance needs to be filled so that no one is left out of balance. Today technical inspectors will come to do a damage analysis together with our experts.
The Ministry of Infrastructure will take measures to organize the specification and a co-ordination of the reception of Greek, Turkish and French teams to come from overseas.
The preliminary balance of contributions is pretty encouraging, but because the banks are closed we cannot say how full the balance is.
