President Ilir Meta, through an announcement on social networks, has announced that on Monday, will propose some concrete ideas for the referendum.
Meta says, it been 21 years since the political class does not legislate, for holding a referendum.
Meta also says that the Albanian political class ,only knows how to deepen crises, and not taking responsibility.
Therefore, it is the sovereign who must say the last word.
Meta statement:
“Dear citizens!
Here is what the Albanian people have decided in the referendum on the Constitution:
Article 150
- The people, through 50 thousand eligible citizens, has the right to repeal a law and to ask the President of the Republic to hold the referendum for important issues.
- The Assembly, with the proposal of not less than one fifth of the deputies or on the proposal of the Council of Ministers, can decide that a matter of an particular importance to be put to a referendum.
- Principles and procedures for holding a referendum as well as its validity being provided by law.
It has been 21 years since the political class failed to excrete the law to enforce this constitutional obligation to make direct democracy impossible!
But now there is no more tolerance and no excuses!
This political class does not recognize political dialogue, public and national interest.
