In the Assembly, the draft statement proposed by PDIU on the abolition of the law of war with Greece is being discussed. The President of PDIU, Shpëtim Idrizi, says that the law that is still in force brings negative effects between the two countries.

“This statement is proof of our peaceful policy for a solution after 84 years for a legal absurdity, based on a historical absurdity like the law of war, this also confirms the position of the parliament for strengthening relations with Greece.

Therefore, this statement appreciates these relations, the importance and good level of bilateral strategic relations with Greece and the will to deepen them. Both countries are members of NATO and in this framework we cooperate without reservations for our common security. We have also appreciated Greece’s contribution to the progress of integration processes.

We have kept in mind that the friendship and cooperation treaty was signed between Albania and Greece, but we note that unlike the spirit of this treaty and the mutual political will, the law of war of 1940 still remains in force and produces some of the negative effects that arise when the states are in a state of war,” said Idrizi, among other things.
