This Wednesday, for the first time in the region, the Ministerial Conference of the European Higher Education Area, with the participation of all countries. This meeting aims to approach the basic values of education, internationalization, academic freedom, institutional autonomy, social dimension and public responsibility of higher education.

During his speech at this conference, Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that more cooperation is needed for a better quality education, while he underlined that a “NATO” for education should be built.

“I’m sure you don’t need any more lectures, but I want to say a few words and I’ll try to be a good host. For us this is a humbling moment to be the first place to welcome you. I thank the delegation from Ukraine for coming and I also want to thank the President of the Supreme Council of Turkey and the Minister of Education of Hungary.

I singled them out because we are grateful for everything these countries are doing to build our education journey. Turkey and Hungary have been countries that have come faster than the EU. Our country, the EU countries, can be part of this potential and all the opportunities that the European area offers.

I can say that the future cannot be defended by weapons, but by knowledge. The time has come to build a NATO of education”, said Rama.
