Municipality of Tirana, in cooperation with the German GIZ, has made possible the employment of about 300 employees from vulnerable groups in the institutions of the Municipality of Tirana.
This good news was given by the Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj at the meeting of the Municipal Council.
“We have an addition to the contribution of the Municipality of Tirana to the project co-financed by GIZ, to help the needy. We have designed a project, where we employ 300 citizens from the Roma and Egyptian community, mainly coming from a street situation.
I believe that the most humane way to manage people in a street situation is by telling them: We have a social center for feeding and hygiene, we have teachers and mentors for children, we have some municipal packages, but we also have a job for you.
I believe today that the minimum wage has also increased, we need to reflect the addition of the Municipality’s contribution to this GIZ project to employ these 300 citizens who come from a vulnerable stratum”, said Veliaj.
