The former mayor of Durres Vangjush Dako, arrested for abuse of duty, will appear in front of the Court of Special Appeal on July 18 at 10 am. The appeal session will be reviewed by Judge Daniela Shirka.
Dako was arrested on June 6 by order of the Special Prosecutor’s Office on the suspicion of abuse of office in two cases.
The first related to the granting of permission for the construction of a building in Durres in violation of the law and the tender for the purchase of a project for the development of the coastline that increased its value 10-fold.
Together with Dako, 10 arrest warrants were issued.
For these two accusations, Dako has given clarifications in front of the Court, claiming that it was the members of the bid evaluation commission who gave the permission and not him, but in the end it is his firm and the Prosecution claims that Dako abused his duty. It will be the next session in the Appeal, where Dako requested a lighter security measure such as “house arrest” or “compulsion to appear at the Prosecutor’s Office”.
