Socialists leading with number of municipal council’s members in Durres

Socialist Party (SP) has gained an initial advantage regarding the number of Durres Municipality Council’s members that have been voted during the May 14 local elections.

Central Elections Commission’s (CEC) data showed that in the municipality of Durres, 12 of the 342 polling stations for the municipal councils have been counted so far and the Socialists have gotten 53.61% of the votes, obtaining 29 mandates.

On the other hand, the ‘Together We Win’ coalition with 22.91% of the votes has 12 mandates, while the Democratic Party (DP) has secured 4 mandates so far with 8.96% of the votes.

According to the CEC, the Environmental Agrarian Party with 5.47% of the votes has so far 3 mandates, while the Social Democratic Party has only one mandate with 1.93% of the votes.

In the municipality of Shijak, when 7 out of 54 polling stations were counted in total, SP has 15 mandates in the municipal council with 63.91% of the votes. The “Together We Win” coalition has taken only 3 mandates with 14.38% of the votes.

Democratic Party (DP) is ranked the third force with 8.63% of the votes securing only two mandates, while the Environmental Agrarian Party secured only one mandate with 5.44% of the votes.

In the meantime, in the municipality of Kruja, the counting for municipal councils has not started yet. In the elections of May 14, the Socialist Party’s candidates won the elections in 53 municipalities out of 61 that are in total in Albania.
