Head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Ilirjan Celibashi has addressed a letter to the Prosecutor General, Olsian Çela, the head of the Special Prosecution against Organized Crime and Corruption (SPAK), Altin Dumani, as well as the Director General of the State Police, Muhamet Rrumbullaku.
In his letter, Celibashi requests the coordination of work to prevent election crimes and possible incidents on Election Day until the end of the vote counting process.
“In recognition and respect for the competence and legal responsibility of each of the institutions that you lead as well as the Central Election Commission, allow me to bring to your attention the need to coordinate the exercise of these responsibilities in order to prevent and identify criminal offenses in field of elections efficiently, at least in relation to time.
This, for the preparation and conduct of the elections for the local government bodies on May 14, 2023. Above all, we recommend to designate and mutually recognize the respective, special, receiving and sending contacts of the relevant information. This especially for the period from today until the end of the vote counting process”, the letter says.
