Prime Minister Edi Rama declared that in 2030, Albania will be the champion in the Balkan region, as far as tourism is concerned. During a conversation in a private enterprise in the city of Durrës, Rama said that the problem will be the accommodation of tourists, as their demand increases every year.
“We have done and will do a lot for tourism. Albania in 2030 will be the champion of the Balkans in tourism.
I am telling you that the big problem that we will have will be, not whether we will have tourists, but how well we will handle their requests, from the requests for beds, which will increase every year, to the request for every detail in the service. But not only that. Depending on what you do with us, the income will increase much more than it is today, because you will be able to increase the prices for foreign tourists and not just some all-inclusive packages that you have there.
You know very well why you are developing and the tourism and hotel industry is developing, it is because of the special treatment with a special VAT that is the lowest in the region and in Europe. We compete with Greece, Italy, Croatia, and Montenegro.
