US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim responded to former Prime Minister Sali Berisha after a statement by the latter, who accused him of interfering in court regarding the court case in which the Democratic Party is.
Kim’s response states that if “interference in the judicial process” means encouraging judges and prosecutors to do their job, then the United States will continue to do so.
If “interference in the judicial process” means encouraging judges and prosecutors to do their job despite threats or incitement, making it clear the US will continue to support the implementation of justice reform in Albania, underlining that no one is on the law and demanding that we all do our part to fight corruption and impunity, then YES, the US has done and will continue to do just that – because the fight against corruption and efforts to undermine democracy are a “Essential interest in US national security.”
Today, the former prime minister called on the US government to ask Ambassador Yuri Kim in Tirana to stop the pressure on the court for the process related to the party seal, but also the attacks against him.
Yuri Kim’s reaction comes immediately after the Court of Appeals accepted the appeal of Enkelejd Alibeaj for the decision of the Court of Tirana that gave the “seal” of the PD Re-establishment.
The Court of Appeals has announced that the statute adopted by the Assembly on December 11 has been considered.
“Appeal” has accepted the appeal of Enkelejd Alibeaj against the decision for the recognition of the statute of December 11 by Judge Agron Zhukri. Alibeaj requests the reversal of the decision taken by the judge or the review by another panel.
The battle will now take place in the Court of Appeals, after the decision of Judge Blerina Muça to accept the appeal of Enkelejd Alibeaj. In this way, the Court accepts as a party in the process, the Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party Enkelejd Alibeaj.
