Two people were arrested in Fier as part of the police operation coded “Value” this Tuesday.
The two people, 51 years old and 57 years old, residents of Fier, in cooperation with other yet unidentified citizens, have trafficked works of art from the Greek state, to sell them in Albania.
Police services found and seized as material evidence, 107 works of art suspected to have been trafficked by the Greek state, among which icons and paintings by Greek and Romanian authors, swords and other items suspected to belong to the period of antiquity, a marble head suspected to be from the second century before the birth of Christ, all of which are worth about 1.5 million euros.
Meanwhile, the van in which they transported the works from the Greek state to Albania, military ammunition, a quantity of suspected narcotic cannabis sativa and an electronic scale was also seized.
The operation was finalized by the Section for the Investigation of Illegal Traffic, in cooperation with the Directorate of the Special Operational Force in the State Police, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of Fier General Jurisdiction.
