Citizens of Albania and Kosovo will pass through the border point of Morina without checking identification documents during 9 months of the year and on holiday weekends. The governments of the two countries revised a protocol, which until now facilitated the movement procedures at this border point only in the 4 months of summer. ”

Through this signing of this new protocol, we will enable the facilitation of the crossing procedures, of the border verification at the common point Morin – Kukës for the entire period 1 May – 30 September and 1 November – 28 February, i.e. 9 months in total year, in contrast to the current protocol that provided for 4 months, specifically only June 1 to September 30. During this period of eased circulation, there will be no passport checks, identity cards for citizens, I emphasize for the citizens of both our countries.”

The relief measures during the summer in Morina have made this border point between Kosovo and Albania almost non-existent. While the new protocol signed by the two interior ministers aims to increase the flow of bilateral movements without stops and delays.

“Through this agreement, we will avoid long queues and facilitate the travel conditions of our citizens. This season we welcome more Kosovar sisters and brothers, guaranteeing them that there is no obstacle of any kind at the border.” The data show that movements at the border point of Morina have doubled in the last three years. In 2023, over 1 million 400 Albanian citizens and over 4 million 400 thousand foreign citizens entered Albania from this crossing point.
