The increase in the number of illegal immigrants who are passing through Albania and Serbia to seek asylum in the EU, has brought the proposal for the suspension of visa-free travel to the Western Balkans to the negotiating table.
Recently, regarding this news, a reaction has come from the Albanian Foreign Ministry, emphasizing that the establishment of visas for Albanians is not true. The Albanian Foreign Ministry clarifies that there is no plan, no initiative, no document proposed by any EU member country and no discussion regarding the possibility of suspending the visa-free movement of Albanian citizens.
“We guarantee the Albanian citizens that they are not endangered at all and at no time by the right to move without visas in the EU space”, says the reaction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the following it is emphasized that this news seems to be simply the product of certain interests at a time when in Brussels it is being discussed to find as soon as possible and without further unjustified delays the possibility to recognize the right of movement freely to the citizens of Kosovo.
