The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during her stay in Tirana, spoke to journalists in connection with the launch of the Berlin Summit Process.
She said that this summit is held at a time when the situation in the Balkans is tense, but this shows the determination that the EU has for its expansion.
She further added that the EU is here to help companies that want to develop their economy.
“Today is a tense Berlin process for the first time in the Western Balkans. I think it sends a very strong message about how committed we are to expansion. A big topic is the economics of Western Balkans, we can discuss and therefore I have presented my plan.
We want to give Western Balkan companies access to the EU’s simulated economy. Those who are ready to reform and complete the common regional economy will receive funds from the EU. It will be an opportunity for those who want to improve their economy, our doors are open and that’s why we are here,” she said.
