Erion Veliaj has won a third mandate as Mayor of the Albanian capital, Tirana in the local elections of 14 May 2023. Veliaj has deeply defeated his opponent of the “Together We Win” coalition, Belind Kelliçi, with a difference of 60 thousand votes.
From the official data of the Central Elections Commission (CEC), Veliaj was the winner in all 27 units that Tirana has. This is the deepest victory ever recorded by a candidate in the history of Tirana, marking in this way one of the deepest defeats of the opposition.
Veliaj has achieved a deep victory in the three areas where Foltorja had high hopes, such as Kombinati, Astiri and “5 Maji”.
On his part, Kelliçi also lost in his neighborhood to “Myslym Shyri”, where he also voted.
