The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal made by Fredi Beleri to suspend the decision of the Special Court of First Instance, which sentenced him to 2 years in prison.
Beleri requested that the execution of the decision be suspended until the Supreme Court pronounces. He was sentenced in March of this year to two years in prison for election corruption by the Court of First Instance, a decision that was upheld on June 25 by the Special Appeal.
The conviction of Fredi Beleri by the Court of Appeal forced the institutions to decree partial elections in the Municipality of Himara, which will be held on August 4, 2024. The Socialist Party has trusted the candidacy of Vangjel Tavo for these elections, while the opposition will compete with Petro Gjikuria.
