Prime Minister Edi Rama in a press conference spoke about the situation of crime and road safety in the country. Rama did not express concern, while emphasizing that the recent events are shocking, but this cannot determine according to him the degree of crime, as according to him they are within the limit.
“I am not worried about crime or accident trends because the trends are seen beyond two or three events. Just look and you will understand that trends are within a limit that also determines the degree to which crime or accidents decrease or increase. Of course the events that took place are shocking, but for tourists do not worry.
The atmosphere of a place where tourists should not come because they risk being killed on the streets is on screen and not in reality. The fact shows that tourists are coming and will come.
A two or three, tragic event without question does not determine the level of security or insecurity in the country. And to say it was done worse than having Covid-19, I do not know what to call it. I think we need to understand well what the dynamics of the event have to do with.
Rama stressed out that the State Police does not punish and that it has high results in identifying and arresting persons who have violated the law, adding that it cannot allow the police to trample.
“We have legislation that is one of the most difficult. From the point of view of the police we have facts that the results are high. From the point of view of legality we have a problem; the laws have not been implemented. If two neighbors get into a fight, what can the police do? I have not come out to take responsibility from anyone, but we are at a time when Albania is in a more important period for the economy.
And an event two or three is reasons to do analysis and not a reason that everyone here could die is taking to the streets. Today, the whole beach of Albania cannot be a bed filled with deckchairs and guards asking for money. “Conflicts here are administered according to the law”, said Rama./abcnews.al
